A recent Brunel University study reported that there are more atheists than theists in the UK. What has taken religion’s place? Self, superstition and nature, amongst other things. Sarah has created two pieces so far in this series: a triptych and a single portrait in the style of religious icons.
In the centre of the tryptich, we see our own reflection in the guise of a traditional religious icon with suspended personal tokens and offerings, surrounded by nature and talismanic symbols and all set upon an altar.
The single portrait reflects our own face back at us.
